In the 2016 IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition, Finalist Morgan Balfour was the winner of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra Prize. She recently was able to take up her prize and performed with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra at their Shell Prom, Summer and Song concert on 1 December 2018.

This is what we are all about at the ASC. We strive to provide valuable opportunities for Australasia’s young and up-coming opera talent, and to assist them as they grow from young artists into professional musicians.

“I very much enjoyed having the opportunity to reach many people who may or may not attend classical music events frequently. It was very special to perform for such a large crowd and be able to sing diverse pieces that included Puccini, Gounod and then also Climb Every Mountain and I Could Have Danced All Night. The orchestra members were lovely and very relaxed and made me feel very comfortable. Guy Noble was a fantastic conductor and a wonderful colleague who made the whole event lots of fun.”

“What a delight it was to work with Morgan. She has an easy soprano that the audience loved, but after years of performing she has that calmness onstage and a warm rapport with the audience, introducing arias with a great sense of humour, and then singing them brilliantly too!”
